Here is some interesting information I thought Canon users might like to see...

In september we may see some good news:

A new SLR digital pro body based on the EOS 1V which includes a 6MP sensor, a focal ratio of 1,3 (1,6 for the D30). It's still not the size of a 24x36mm. The body will be composed by a CCD sensor. The price is supposed to be twice the D30 price.

But even better yet, two new lenses may make themselves known: - A new wide-angle zoom 16-35mm f/2.8 - And the long awaited... EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM !!!! I guess this mean we'll be seeing a lot of non IS 70-200's dropping in price which is good news for all photographers.

And what about that new Canon EF 400mm f/4 DO IS lens that sounds so exciting to us? Apparently it is being used at the French Open so I hope Canon finds it in their hearts to bring us this marvel of optical technology for our EOS bodies very soon!

Are these rumors true? I guess we'll have to wait until September...

I also learned that the price won't be expensive than 2200$ for the 400/4 do is, because of the cheap tech of new optical design.It has been said that new 200-600/4 do is under construction, and will be marketed at the end of 2001.(According to a canon rep at intercamera- 2001 İstanbul exhibition.)

Rumours. Maybe they'll be true, maybe not. The digital body and 70-200 IS rumours are not new, and rumours of a replacement for the 17-35 are also not new (though I hadn't heard the 16-35 one until recently).

Sigma has a 16-35 or a 15-35 wide angle prosumer grade lens coming out sometime in the future, I would be surprised if Canon was.

In response to Steve's post: The EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM is no longer a rumor. Canon announced on August 1 the new lens, to be available in September, 2001.
