Just a silly question

Does anyone else name their vehicles? I drive a little red Ford Escort and her name is Rachel.

Please reassure me that I'm not the only crazy one! :-)

No, you're not alone Sherri! My silver van I named Silver Sword (an indigenous Hawaiian plant, related to a sunflower). I recently got a a Prius (Toyota's gas/electric hybrid), dark green, so I named her Holly (I hate the name Prius, so that was added incentive). I have a friend who named her car Ruby.

My college boyfriend had a white car that he called The White Stallion, but that was sort of a joke. Julie had a Plymouth Volare, which we dubbed The Crippled Turtle -- she got rid of that thing as fast as possible. It liked to stall as you pulled out into traffic!

Oh, and for awhile I had a red Jeep, that I called Dragon (after the Red Dragon of Wales). Okay, who else is looney enough to admit naming their vehicle?

I name just about all my vehicles because thay all have their own personalities, behaviorial characteristics and cosmetic distinctions. That probably comes from all of them being "experienced".

Among the names were Snaggletooth, Bombino, Blue, Big Red, Little Red, Jimmy, and Spike.

Current vehicle isn't named, probably because I'm still in denial. Sis picked it out, as we needed to get one she could drive comfortably. It's a purple Neon. See why I'm in denial?! Couldn't find it in the parking lot for the first month or so - "Oh no, I don't drive a purple car...huh-uh, not me...must be someone else..."

I DID have an old green Dodge pick-up that we all called "Killer" after it tried to do away with my first two husbands.... Linkage used to slip and you'd have to get out and put it back on; it jumped into gear and tried to run over the first one, but settled for just dropping the hood down on the second one. Man, I loved that truck!!

My big Chevy truck is Buttercup. She's yellow primer, with a lighted visor, lighted handlebars, and lighted running boards. What is called in Texas a goatroper truck. I go down the road and blast "Hillybilly Rock" bouncing up and down and loving the looks I get! Right now she's lame. She was helping me do fences and her driver side front wheel bearing went out. First thing that has ever been wrong with her wheels in 7 years. Poor baby.

Weeeeeeellllllll, Polly, you COULD name that purple thing "Barney"! [running away now, quickly!]

Joy neglected to mention The Crippled Turtle's successor, The Millenium Vulture, with Darth Vader on the dashboard. And I drove The Death Machine for a while (a truck, others manufactured by same company being famous, or infamous, for exploding in accidents...). Current vehicle has no real name, but generally is known as The Big Tackbox.

You can run, but you can't hide forever!!

No cars or trucks with names, but we have an invincible lawn-mower named Brunhilde and a tent named Babalou!

Polly, Sis and I must be on the same wavelength because I would love to have a purple car. Keith put his foot down on that idea though, he said he would never ride with me again if I bought a purple car. What about calling the car Priscilla?

Cindy, I'm glad that someone else knows what a goatroper truck is. People around here just look at me funny when I use that term. (OK, they look at me funny anyway!)

Back in college I had a silver '77 Monte Carlo that we called the Millenium Monte. It also was called the Deerhunter after a couple of run-ins with the local wildlife.

OOOH, I love this! I had a 1978 Thunderbird in highschool. We called it Ethel, others called her Thunderchicken. When she finally went to the salvage yard in the sky I cut off the hood ornament and have it to this day. Had lots of EXCITING adventures in that car! Now, we have 82F150 named Big Red, 83 Bonneville named Elizabeth after her former owner, 96 GMC Seirra named Blackie, 92 Cherokee called the Gooseneck, ( I haul lots of livestock in it. The smell keeps others from riding with me!) Got the stepdaughter a 2000 Escort for graduation from HS last year that she named Starlight. None have been as fun as the Thunderchicken.
