I copy with v4.02 all the time. First, copy the CD you want a copy of to your hard drive, then copy it to the CD-R. To copy a music CD you have to use an MP3 ripper to do the conversion from CDA to WAV and back to CDA.

If you have Windows 95/98/ME then check what you have running in the background. The way you check it is by pressing ctrl+alt+Del. You only want explorer and systray running. You will have more than explorer and systray running, so end task all backgrounds by selecting them and end tasking it. You will have to do this with all of the programs running in the background. You must not have any virus scan programs running either. To get all those background programs back again, reboot Windows.

The reason why you will come across these problems is because ECDC is a s/w that needs lots of computer resources and uses lots of CPU processing. Also background programs seem to easily interfere with the writing Phase, so the solution to this is to have no programs running in the background. If you still have the same problem, there may be a problem with a program installed previously which have changed certain system files of Windows which are shared by ECDC.

If you have Windows 2000, good luck. Windows 2000 most of the time doesn't have a problem using ECDC due to its good memory management. Not much troubleshooting can be done other than ending the programs from running in you system tray, especially virus scan programs.

I found Nortons and ECDC has a problem. If nortons was running while installing, there will be a problem running ECDC because nortons locks the registry or something to that effect.

As a last resort will to do the ECDC update which is available on the www.roxio.com web site. the update is called ECDC_405_up.exe!

Hope this helps.
