Best circular polarizer ?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Camera Equipment : One Thread

Dear All ,

I am going to buy 2 canon lenses, 20/2.8 and 135/2 (both with 72mm filter diameter). In addition, I want to buy a matching circular polarizing filter. If top optical performence is my prime and only objective, on which would you recommend ? Is B+H realy the best ? Is there multi-coated ones realy that hard to clean (I've read so somewhere on the web).

Thank you , Yakim.

Go for the B+W slim filter. It only cuts down a stop and gives no color cast on transparency film.

I have the B+W Schneider multi-coated circular polarizer (77mm) and it is quite nice. However, you need to have the right products to clean it when it gets dirty, and it helps to have some experience and comfort level with cleaning fine optics and delicate multi-coatings. I've had very good results with formula MC lens fluid, as well as PhotoClear microfiber clothes. Visit www.2filter.com to learn more about these products. And remember, when it comes to optical glass: "If it ain't dirty, don't try to clean it!"
