Found a Valoo hood for my Elmar-need advise redoing numbers

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

Just got a great deal on a Valoo hood for the 50mm screw mount Elmar. For those of you wondering what a "valoo" is, its a neat little hood that has F-stops settings that couple up with the F stops on the lens(that are in a very strange place up by the front element). Even the stock cap fits on the hood nicely.

My question is, because the f stop numbers on this particular hood are faded and hard to see, any good tips on re-whiting them in that won't make such a mess? I thought about trying to put some white paint on the f-stop numbers with a tiny brush, and then removeing the extra with some polish after it dries. Any tips on re-lettering Leica stuff in general would also be useful.

What you need is a Lacquer-Stik Paintstick, White. And here is where you get them:

Or you could use a toothpick.

I like it already-it makes changing the aperture setting very easy, and is a very deep hood for excellent flare protection. It doesn't protrude into the finder at all, as it is a narrow hood. Of course it does take away the compactness of the lens when installed.
