How can original developers get credit when their code is rewritten?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Bylaws for IP Corporations : One Thread

Once a module of their code is accepted, the coder gets ownership and the source is made available to other developers. If they modify the code, the owner must make an offer before incorporating the modifications into the build - often this offer will include a transfer of module ownership. If the ensuing negotiation is unsuccessful, the modifier may challenge for ownership and the module specifier arbitrates.
