Nikon lense on Canon EOS?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Camera Equipment : One Thread

Hello,

does anybody know if there is an adapter to mount nikon lenses on a Canon EOS D30 and if there is one, where can I buy it? Are there any problems that could result in mounting nikon lenses on an EOS system?

kind regards Marco

Basically, if brand A's mount to film plane distance is shorter that brand B's, you can use B lenses on A cameras, but never the other way around unless you can live without infinity focus. The EOS system has probably the shortest mount to film plane distance of all current SLR systems, while Nikon's is the longest one.

There's at least one adaptor for you, Marco; click here and then on "Adapter" for information in German. Keep in mind that you'll have stop-down aperture priority autoexposure at most. I don't know whether the D30's exposure meter works when the electronic contacts in the lens mount tell its CPU that no lens is mounted. And you'll have to live without AF, of course.

For a link to an English site, click here and follow the "adapters" link.
