Season Ticket Sales - Bondholders

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

if as reported season ticket sales are struggling what is going to be the likely attitude of the bondholders as their interest and repayment is securitised against the revenue from season ticket sales.

Is it possible they could foreclose?

It really depends how bad the situation was. If ST sales fell to less than say 20,000 then the Bond Holders would have serious and legitimate concerns. However, if they fell to say 35-40,000 I believe the associated financial problems would be left to NUFC to manage.
I'd be surprised if they fell below 40,000, but time will tell.

How do you know season ticket sales are poor? I've seen nothing written down. Is this fact or rumour?

Lynda, it's all anecdotal at the moment.

Thanks for the info. I suspect the sales won't be down very much at all. The usual 36 000 diehards will buy theirs. The dubious ones will be the newer ST holders but even then, I haven't heard of anyone not renewing. They've talked of it but when it came to the crunch, couldn't resist.

All these season ticket holders who renew their tickets are giving a ringing endorsement of the stewardship of the club under Hall and Shepherd. (This includes me)

What other conclusion would you draw if you were them. If David Stonehouse, say, came in and argued the toss with them, about anything, they will ram back in his face the season ticket sales which will show how well things are in the club.

Sad

I object to being called 'dubious'. Daft, possibly.

Nah I reckon Dubious fits you to a tee.... ;))

I know of two bondholders that are not renewing this season.

What are their reasons for not renewing?

You are right of course. While everyone turns up regularly, the powers that be will see that as an endorsement. However this applies to every club. They all play on the fact that loyalty is everything in football. We're hardly likely to say 'well this is rubbish I'll go and support sunderland' are we?
