Which would concur with what NUFC.com are saying:

Packet of Three Thanks to our network of snouts and horse whisperers, we can tell you that Newcastle have agreed the transfer of two players, with a third to follow imminently. The two already confirmed both played in the Nationwide last season, and news of their acquisition is being delayed until they can be unveiled with the third newcomer, a significantly higher profile signing. Stay tuned..... Other Nationwide player? Hughes, Clarkie (has he signed for City yet?), ?????

heart says Clark, head says Hughes (but as our main striker signing?? didn't bob say PROVEN TOP LEVEL PLAYER?)

Come on folks - could we really be excited if 2 of our main summer signings were Lee Clark and Robbie Elliot?

Talk about a lack of ambition.

I was talking to a friend of a friend of someone in-the-know at Bolton, and he said, I quote: "Robbie is held together with sticky tape".
I liked Robbie Elliot last time but will he be another crock?

GET READY TO GRUMBLE
I can see a lot of rumbling if this turns out, which it will.

Did anyone really expect any more?

The strategy will be to bring in a couple of squad players and hope that the first team stay fir and achieve a European place. This will enable the club to get some money in the bank, look attractive to the shareholders and then go on a spending spree next close season when we have something more substantial to offer to players i.e. European Football.

If we don't qualify, then there has been no substantial outlay and the risk is minimised. I don't agree with any of it but it's what I reckon is happening.

The guy next to me at the match knew Robbie would leave the first time as his knees were supposed to be a right mess. He couldn't walk for a day after each game. If he comes how the hell are we going to have room for Shearer, Cort and Dyer on the fitness table if he's always there ?

Elliott and Paul Murray, watch this space

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

Is that the Paul Murray that was/is at QPR? He must be at least 24 by now and has yet to convince anyone he's worthy of such a move. Another Wadsworth old boy from his time at Carlisle

a sort of english stephen glass, but not as good

hey tj, u good? where did you hear this?

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

I've heard the same as TJC, and that the third signing is supposed to be a major international name.

Personally I believe nothing until they're photographed at SJP wearing a black and white shirt shaking hands with YBR.
