Climax of Italian season on channel 4 today at 1.45pm. They will be showing Roma v Parma and cutting through to Juve and Lazio for any goals there. Roma are 2 points clear but playing another side already in Champions League after failing to beat relegation bound Napoli last weekend. If Roma screw up today then it will be the third season in a row that the lead has changed hands on the last day of the season. Considering as how it's 2 of Italy's top sides playing with a host of genuinely classy players it will doubtlessly be a bloody awful 0-0 but I'm going to watch it anyway just in case. Still hate Roma for playing the way they did against us, but have been too fond of them for too long to hope for anything other than their first title for 18 years.

I too will be rooting for Roma, Batistuta deserves a scudetto and they've played some good football. Add the fact neither Juventus (the Man U of Italian football) nor Lazio (with neo-nazi supporters) are particularly sympathetic. Congrats to Fiorentina on winning the Italian cup btw.

Easily the most homo-erotic championship celebrations I've seen. If we ever win the title would the SJP pitch be filled with crazed loons determined to strip the players down to their underwear? Congratulations to AS Roma.

Did they manage to get the last 5 minutes played in the end? Channel 4 had to show something else. Superb for Batistuta to get a goal and a title. Put up with years of crap at Fiorentina and was one of the major factors in Roma's win. Agree entirely on the homoerotic front, can't imagine many of our lot choosing to carry on wandering about in just their trollies either. Must be the hot weather ;-)

They did get back on the pitch eventually, the keepers wearing whatever shirts they'd managed to find in the dressing room (Antonioni played without socks). The last 5 minutes were hardly competitive football. The players nervously passed the ball around whilst masses of riot police and Roma fans pressed towards the edge of the pitch. When the ref blew he, and most of the players, had already strategically positioned themselves near the tunnel, for a quick exit. Still, delighted for the tiffosi, and for Batistuta.

Don't know about homoerotic but I enjoyed it! ;-)
Felt so sorry for the team and coach having their moment of glory ruined by those t*ssers.
