Thought the Ronnie headline: Zenden out an SOS was quite good...

Yes. Gullit tried to sign him (don't that let that put you off), but he prefered his chances on the Barca bench.

Can't say I've ever been particularly impressed whenever I've seen him on telly.
However, times are hard and if they take Marcelino in part ex I guess he's a more appealing prospect than Bassedas playing wide left again.

Liverpool want him apparently so I think we can forget him.

Oh yes, and if we get rid of Marcelino at the same time then I'll be a very happy man.

Zenden will also show other players that we can attract top names. But really there is not point in dreaming, he wont come here if top italian clubs are interested.

According to Koptalk (God, I'm bored today), Zenden has stated that he is desperate to go to Anfield and is awaiting Houllier's decision. He has a ring of Winston Bogarde about him to me....

Another opportunity to try to spring Patrik Berger?

-- Anonymous, June 16, 2001

Zenden has a column in a Dutch football mag and was enthusing over the atmostphere at Anfield during the UEFA tie a while ago.

which begs the question, that since we aren't in Europe, will anyone of name come and play for us?

Go and sign him, please. We need a big and qulaity signing as long as the other rivals has already signed someone. Zenden must be a good signing, even it costs us 10M. Bobby, it's time to show your ambitious to everyone in the world.

We have already lost Guardiola, Carrick and Jeffers. We can afford to lose the fourth.

Yes, Zenden is class. If he goes to Liverpool then Berger is the man once again, I would go for Berger anyway to find out his availability.

If we can offer him the money he would surely come. (He being either of the two)

To be honest, I'd prefer Berger - a truly modern midfielder - to playing with two wingers who can't defend.

Atmosphere at Anfield? It's a bigger morgue than any other bliddy stadium in the PL these days, relieved only by a cringe-making piped version of "You'll never walk alone". All I can say is, if Anfield is good to Zenden, they must be bliddy quiet at the Nou Camp nowadays.

it is Dougal, there is a real apathy to Barca here at the minute, only revived by Rivaldo last night. Glory hunters?
