Does anyone out there know anything about pure bred Palimino rabbits? I have 2 bucks and 2 does rust colored. The people I got them from had all kinds and said they were pure bred. They were all the same brown color. I bred mine for the kids for the fair and they have brown with some black babies, white babies, and rust babies. Doesn't sound like pure to me. Phyllis

Perhaps the bucks and does were too closly related. In satins that can happen, if a copper (as an example) buck breeds his copper sister, she can have white, black and copper babies.

What breed are they? Palomino is a color, not breed. (I could be wrong, they add so many different breeds but a Palomino horse is still a Quarter Horse) By the way, you don't need to put rabbits in pairs. One buck will take care of three does.

I was told where I got them last year that they were not related, but I had thought the same thing. My reasoning for getting 2 bucks, was in case one didn't produce or something else happened. So I may try switching which doe I breed to which buck and see if it works better the next time. That won't be until the fall probably. I don't know that I am spelling the breed right. But was told they were that. I will call my grandma, who has a rabbit book and ask her to get the spelling and see if there is such. Thankyou so much for all your help. Phyllis

Check the ARBA web site. National Rabbit Breeders Assoc. Palamino is a breed not color. There are two color varities-Golden and Lynx neither are brown. Could be you have unpure blood lines or could be you have satins and not palominos.

I checked in my grandma's rabbit book, its really old, it did not have anything about Palomino rabbits. Mine are, now that you say that, golden or wheat colored. I will check out that site. Thankyou very much. Phyllis
