Welcome to E-mentor. We have selected a number of experienced teachers who will act as online mentors to a group new teachers. The general purpose is to provide a forum for new teachers to confer with a mentor about topics of concern to the new teacher. The mentor may, however, take a proactive role if the discussion lags by asking "mentees" to talk about specific areas such as how they are planning, how they are teaching a particular topic, what types of assessments are being used, etc. We expect new teachers to log at least an hour per week which will be compensated at training rate.

Why online mentoring? This allows one mentor to help a number of teachers in different schools and it allows teachers to seek help at a time that is convenient for you. We encourage and expect mentors to respond promptly to all queries.

For the purposes of this program, the district will need to monitor the discussion, but E-Mentor is a private bulletin board that will NOT be available to school supervisors so you may speak openly about any difficulties you are having. We are here to help you, not to supervise you!
