Regarding last nights postings...Do you really think that i would be scared to wear a sunderland shirt in whickham? I have done many times but not now as i do not own one.At the risk of sounding like a test fuelled teenager,i am a known face around the bars of whickham and i really would have nothing to fear. Indeed during the 98 world cup i was drinking in there as my local ,the bay horse ,was being refurbished.Anyhow england were playing columbia on a friday night and it is fair to say that everyone was pissed and "up for it". anyhow the "mackem bastard" shit started and an "off" looked imminent. However nothing happened as my mates ,of which believe it or not i have lots, jumped to my defence with the quote"he may be a mackem but he is one of us." These are all long term badgers as well.I also know and regulary chat with some of your 'boys' if you know what i mean.By the way the bloke who started this is not exactly scary,i could tune him in without much effort. Also the very same bloke sits in the leazes end and last year on nov 18th for the derby match i had a ticket for that end and guess who was sitting in the very next seat to me! Couldn't credit could you? Anyway he was fine and we even had a pint at halftime. Then after the match i wondered down the bottom of the bigg market to meet about 15 badger mates in johnny ringos before celebrating quit loudly on the quayside.Apologies if i sound like a teenage hardman but i just want to make the point that whickham is not a scary place to be a red and white, you would be surprised now to see as much red and white as there is.Still easily 90%-10% but believe me around here the safc fans are not quiet.Oh and you will recall swalwell as being a bit rough.Well go into a swalwell pub anynight and you will see sunderland shirts.

You daft bugger those red and white strips in Swalwell are Swalwell strips

When I was a lad my year had 150 lads in it and two Sunderland supporters, the year above had fewer lads and one Sunderland supporter, the year below I know of one Sunderland supporter. No way, not never, that it's only 90% Mag in Whickham. The reason I'm sure was geography.

Ok 90-10 may be a bit on the large side but going by your rule of thumb out of your 150 it would be about 8-9.By the way swalwell football club is not there anymore ,its a housing estate.fewsters is not there anymore either. And the waste heaps beside the a69(a1) that is the metrocentre!

Also i you are who i think, either your mother or your wifes mother lives/lived just beside the club.I cant remember the name of your older boy though but he was into heavy metal.did you have a little girl as well?

Its a small world but i wouldn't want to paint it! Hows neil doing?

-- Anonymous, June 14, 2001

Much better than RTG aint it, waiting for our Neil to ring as he is out poaching, feeling I remember you , you could have made it easy for yourself though, most of us use our right names on here, could have just asked Billy Whigham !!, he would have said, !Why aye married John and Muriel Hoppers lass, Simonside View by the club, Eldest son Mark, built like a brick shithouse, unfortunatly got suckered into marrying a shithouse , ex RAF Police , Prison Service, three kids , lives six mile from us, runs a village football team (kids). Neil married to a nurse at the sick kids hospital, he is a installation joiner, lives 40 mile away on South Deeside ,covers from Perth to the islands, no family apart from custom scirrocco, jeep, his and hers motor bikes, off roader and a dog , settle down Kev. Sarah is married one laddie (2), one on the way , was making big bucks as a commercial analyst with oil major , but family life comes first, lives in Aberdeen. Now Kev I cannot get more open than that, nothing to hide , tell us about yourself, btw can give you our Neils emailaddy if you need.

Very open but i dont feel it is right to reveal too much about my life on here( not just cos it seems shite in comparison!)Obviously you know my real name is not kev but if neil can suggest it i will own up like.

-- Anonymous, June 14, 2001

South Kedzie eh? I've only been in Chicago 5 years buff, and kedzie runs North/South for about 20 miles (one of the longest streets in chicago) Still not to far from me though. Big Irish population on the south side around Kedzie.

Lot of those Irish were Irish/Geordies out of the Wimpy Base at Dunston, not so long ago they controlled the docks until the Italians moved in , few of them cousin Bill included took the Western Snowbird route to Fla, met up with them ten years back in Sarasota, three couples from Dougal`s neck of the woods, after ten years they give Fla the elbow and retired back to NW Durham - unreal aint it

So it's Adam Clarke then (god, I hope he's no relation to me)?

-- Anonymous, June 14, 2001

Mac, In between jobs I took a month out which necessitated me to attend the Bay Horse between the hours of 1pm and 3pm where at Mike`s table in the lounge,Billy at times would also be in attendance ,his nature as always never changing. Probably not PC these days but Mike did enjoy his 4 pints before doing the news , now do you understand?

C`mon Clarky my friend, a tale of two center forwards , one of the present and one of the past, red and white and black and white, Here`s Buff following your instructions to embrace our cousins and gets nee credit at aal of ye, Mac see this FLC, censure Clarky.

I would draw the attention of the house to the statement I made on here a few threads ago. Namely, we (Geordies and Mackems) are the same people and the interchange on here this evening shows up the hatred and aggro for what it is - stupidity.

SK's early offensive outbursts on here seem to have gone and that is most welcome. It reminds me of the time I put 2 fingers up at a driver who cut me up, only to realise after a few more yards that the driver was my boss!

We really should invite George Dubya Bush on here - we'd soon sort out Kyoto and NATO expansion in a jiffy! :-)

-- Anonymous, June 15, 2001

Mackems may be the same as you...............
