watch him become the best player ever because he plays for them

it will be far more difficult for him to look good with Henry next to him, Vieira and Pires supplying him than it would have done with Cort, Speed and our left winger

Lampard to Chewsee for 11mil, Kachloul to Ipswich.....

What was it people were saying about clubs waiting for that mythical date of July 7th?

Look, the 7th July, is a special day, but not for the reasons you keep imagining, you see it's my granda's 94th birthday, born 7/7/7, and blessed with good luck his whole life !

I hope the greedy little twat sits on the bench and doesn't get a look in.

I've got a feeling that he will be a total flop actually.

JEFFERS A GUNNER (Midas soccer)

Everton striker Francis Jeffers has joined Arsenal for an astonishing £10m. The Blues striker always favoured a move to Highbury, rather than the likes of Leeds, Newcastle and Sunderland, and was even prepared to see out the remaining one year of his contract rather than move elsewhere.

Jeffers is an outstanding prospect, but the fee will amaze many. At only 20 he is an undoubted prospect, and, ironically, was once likened by Alan Hansen, to Dennis Bergkamp. He missed the end of last season with a broken collar bone, but is raring to go for the new season.

Syme - whatever you've got against Mac's granda, keep it off the bbs, eh? ;@)

So have Arsenal had to pay an extra £2million for the benefit of installed payments then?

-- Anonymous, June 15, 2001

I'm relieved that we didn't get him.

-- Anonymous, June 15, 2001

I think the installed payments story was a bit of a red herring. The Arse must have a lot more than £10 million in their bank account. Looks like we were just used to hike the price up.

-- Anonymous, June 15, 2001

The Arsenal instalments have nothing to do with them not affording the fee. NUFC.com are saying that Arsenal are paying £8 million then another £2million based on appearances..

Seems our reported accepted offer of £8million was bullshit. Best off without him I think, although Arsenal will be able to give him the rest he needs to be fit when called upon. I doubt we could have offered him that.
