Jancker

From TTB, but anyway:

Sunderland boss Peter Reid is reported to be set to make an audacious swoop for Bayern Munich's German international striker Carsten Jancker. Bayern coach Ottmar Hitzfeld has admitted that combative frontrunner Jancker is surplus to requirements at the European champions and will almost certainly leave this summer. The 26-year-old is valued at around £10million by the German champions but Reid, who has been looking for another striker to take the pressure off his established front pairing of Kevin Phillips and Niall Quinn, is said to rate him closer to £7million. It may be that Reid's interest in Jancker will wane if his £3million bid for France international striker Lilian Laslandes - an offer that is reported to have been accepted by his club Bordeaux - is successful. Fiorentina, who last night won the Coppa Italia final against Parma, and Premiership new-boys Fulham could also be in the race to sign Jancker, who could lead the German attack when they face England in World Cup qualifier in September.

£7-10M for Jancker, a 26-year old german international sound a lot better then a 20 year old spoiled brat from Everton for the same amount of money.

Then why Jancker would leave Bayern M for Sunderland (or Newcastle) it cant really get into my head.

He's a big donkey and quite how he manages to keep his German place is beyond me. I have watched him a few times in the Champions League, where it matters, and he has yet to impress me. If we ever get linked with him it will be a dark dark day.

Wasn't he in the German side England beat last year? If it's the fella I'm thinking of, he is indeed hopeless - missed 3 sitters, had little in the way of a good touch, only a fair header of the ball. Go on Sun'lan!!! Shame they'll never raise £10m!!!

The answer is two-fold, Sudden:

* Bayern are saying they don't want him
* He would earn serious money in the PL - more than in the Bundislega.

The other thing is that people tend to judge players they see at international level and CL level, this is a big step up from league level. He may well be an excellent player at club level, otherwise I doubt he'd get a game for either Bayern, nor the national side

Should fit in well at Sunderland then, just like the little munchkin in many respects.

Bit of a Jancker by all accounts. I wonder if Reid can pull this one off ...

I really hope Sunderland sign him. The song would be all very simple but every fan in the Premiership would sing it!

Carsten Jancker is a wanker.............Carsten......... ah I can hear it now. The easy ones are always the best.
