Yepp, looks fine.

so twice in a row the reserve kit designers get it right, maybe they can be promoted to the first team next time around

-- Anonymous, June 13, 2001

Wrong colour. How do they expect us to win if it's not red??

-- Anonymous, June 13, 2001

That's pretty similar to that blue/grey one we used to have.

Isn't is a bit dangerous having Dyer modelling it? He could injure himself doing it and be out for another few weeks. Or is it a media thing to convince the press that he's staying?

Well i really am looking forward to seeing all the knuckleheeds around here wearing that non-stop,usually the ones who dont even go to the matches for some strange reason.Nice to see f****ng barton doing summit useful as well.Is this the 1st time shay got both hands to the ball since he left us? Get yere money in lads, they cost nearly a fiver to make y'know. Oh and they look soft ,strong and very long.

appparently it evokes vivid memories in many fans of the League winning side of 1905 who also had a second strip of a mucky blue colour with NTL on the front

-- Anonymous, June 13, 2001

If only you could have afforded the £1m for Shay you might have got promoted the first time, but like you lot say, steady progress, on a solid foundation is always better than actually getting promoted/qualifying for Europe/playing attractive football

-- Anonymous, June 13, 2001

Attractive football is it? Well my learned friend look at the 2 derbies this season. Your shower scored one with speed lying on his arse and another that pinballed around until falling to that well known goalgetter andy o'brien(who he?????). Compare them to our goals against you. hutch's was a good finish from a very good cross after i (superkev) turned aaron hughes inside out. The second goal was a perfect example of counter-attacking football. Keeper to leftback, lung bursting run, superb cross and an immaculate finish by the big man.Thirdly, carteron ran from his own box and recieved the ball from hutch and slotted past the keeper. All 3 good goals, all 3 in high pressure matches.Just 3 examples and as you obviously do not watch us very much this should be all you would have seen,or is there summit you wish to tell us? Could you be a closet mackem? Make mine a pint next time you are in the bridlepath.Stella please.

Apart from the two derby the only game I watched from start to finish was your game against Bradford. Unfair to judge your tactics on that one game but the tactical acumen of bringing on Dichio to replace Quinn was spot on.

Just as we know what our weaknesses are, you know what yours are, as well as your strengths. No one last year ever accused you of playing passing football. Your style works for you, in much the same way a style worked for Leicester and Wimbledon. O'Neill at Leicester on limited resources was brilliant at getting a big, solid defence, a busy, hassling midfield, a fast winger and a giant kid up front. Worked superbly, won them games, got them to cup finals, their fans were happy. Similarly you can happily turn around to any team who finished below you and say with absolute authority that your way proved better. The teams below you aren't your problem. You have to look upwards and ask what sets the top 4 apart.

I wa swondering, do you now view someone like Marcus Stewart as a better player than SK ? 21 goals in 34 games for Stewart against 18 in 34 for SK ? Last year I was told quite forcefully that SK was a better player than Shearer cos he scored more goals than him. I tried to suggest that their may be more to it than just goals but I was told this wasn't the case. SK did get 11 yellow cards which was 8 more cards than Stewart, so clearly he's better at that.

you obviously do not watch us very much

That'll be because it's only recently you've been playing in the same division as us ...

Pint of Stella in the Bridlepath is it Kevin ?, suppose anything is better than Vaux, although the The Three Tuns sounded more like a pub. BTW how does one ping you , of course you will be the only guy wearing red and white , amongst a sea of B/W , correct ?, somehow I doubt it but if you are my admiration for you will increase.

Probably the best way is to ask the barstaff to shout over the tannoy, "Paging SEWPAH kev, IS SOUPA KEV IN THE BAR", one way to get silence methinks. I would not like to bring undue attention on you Kevin , you make a pretty good job of that yourself.

Buff were you in Whickham when Wednesday night used to be bikers night at The Three Tuns ? One of the most awesome sites a child should ever have to see. Each week maybe a hundrer bikers from all over the place descended on little Whickham Front Street. All things from 16 year olds on their 50cc mopeds to bloody great chopper things. Long haired, chained giants sitting on them. Every few weeks a challenge would go up to see who was the fastest. The race was to Dunston Hill hospital (a mile), superb to see them storming off. Always wondered what happened at the police station as they screamed by.

It was always felt the reason it was gentrified to the "Bridlepath" was partly to lose that Wednesday night melee. Although Billy Whigham was gutted (as a fish).

Back to the kit...

very small badge

-- Anonymous, June 14, 2001

Looks like a football kit ... looks like a Rangers football kit.

I'm not impressed, I'll be buying a B/W shirt this season.

-- Anonymous, June 14, 2001

Don't buy the bloody things, blue, black'n'white, green, mauve with burgundy trim, whatever. They're hideous overpriced crap!

As fans we have little scope for protest as boycotting the games is out of the question. But we can refuse to buy their tacky merchandise, poisonous refreshments, lottery tickets etc.

Support the team not NUFCplc or NTL. Don't be a walking advertisement for a bunch of crooks. Singing ya heart out for the lads makes you a fan not the ownership of a multicoloured wardrobe of finest polyester.

-- Anonymous, June 14, 2001

Howay, Dready - the two are not mutually exclusive. I admit to buying a fair share of NUFC merchandise but I hope I also do my fair share of singing and supporting too. I would rather there were no shirt sponsors (although there is a certain pride in connections with local business that employs local people - something was lost with S&N) but the larger part for some is in displaying your support for your club. And I still think the new badge is too small.

-- Anonymous, June 14, 2001

Superkev's silliness is beyond belief - does he think that the used tampon/barber's pole shirt is sold at cost price and it's only ours that retail at a high mark up? In terms of the new away shirt - it's geet simple: if you don't want one, don't buy one.

-- Anonymous, June 14, 2001

Bobby - agree re badge. Is Shay really that small?

-- Anonymous, June 14, 2001

The badge on the black and white top is the same size, they must be trying to keep it uniform.

Look at the new adidas kits for other clubs, I bet they have small badges too.

As for Sunderland's strip, it costs the same as ours, although only one of them is any use as an item of clothing. I seem to remember a fashion editor of some magazine of Sky Sports giving his opinion on the best strips and ours was second with Sunderland fourth bottom. I think Coventry came top of it all.

When it comes to an away kit there are only two rules :- It can't be black and white stripes and it can't be red and white stripes. Why then, doesn't someone use some bloody imagination and come up with something other than all blue again?!
