IS THIS IT?

The words fly like thunder through the air, spreading like the evening news. I've been in the place before and unfortunately, it's not just de ja vu. No one asked for my take on things. No one cared to find out my side. No one thought to consider my feelings. No one considered the fact that it might not be true. No one took the time to get to know me, to find out for themselves who I am.

The stares start and the snickers ring out. The joy they take in my pain never ends. The vendetta is never achieved, the goal is never scored.

It's never enough, or so it seems. When one lie stops having an effect, another one magically pops up and the cycle continues on.

I will not run and I will not hide. I am who I am and there is no crime in that. I won't be ashamed of a lie that I didn't tell. I won't be forced into their idea of who I am.

So, go on, spread your half truths. You can give small minds a reason not to think. You can give jokers a laugh to share. But, you can't break or change me.
