I want to compress an image from 256 x 256 to 64 x 64. How do I do that?

open in an image editor program like photoshop or paintbrush or whatever and resize to whatever you want and resave. easy...

An interesting video diversion is doing a succession of 2:1 reductions via the filters in virtual dub until you get a thumbnail sized video and comparing view dimensions vs file size.

Then go back and blow it back up to it's origional size and view the loss of detail in the picture.
