A young man from good family down in his fortune, avid reader, thinker, develops a method of analysing truth and human character similar to poe's, that is, a combination of science and intuitional insight. Like Sherlock Holmes and all the lone wolf, ingenius, gentlemen amateur detectives that ever aided the poor, simplistic police- and for handsome pay("The Purloined letter")!
