Explosion at Lyondell-Citgo refinery's cat cracker

HOUSTON, June 10 (Reuters) - An explosion occurred at the Houston oil refinery jointly owned by Lyondell Chemical Co. and Petroleos de Venezuela subsidiary Citgo Petroleum Corp., injuring three workers, Houston Mayor Lee Brown said on Sunday.

The explosion occurred Saturday afternoon in the catalytic cracker at the 240,000 barrel-per-day facility.

The extent of damage to the refinery and its impact on output was not known. There was no word on the nature of the workers' injuries.

The company did not return phones calls seeking comment on Sunday.
