The only time I found one was when I lived in Germany, and I brought mine back with me. I ordered one from Quelle catalog (from Europe) and they are based in New York. Even though I haven't ordered from them in a long time, their website is: www.quelle.com Good luck! Blessings, Traci

I ordered mine through the local hardware store. They had to find it in one of their catalogs. Apparently these are more popular in Europe than the U.S.

Hi. I found mine at Wal Mart a few years ago, and then bought one for my mother. I don't know exactly what you mean by an umbrella, though. Mine is on an aluminum pole and has a square tube aluminum frame at the top with the clothesline strung between them, probably 20 or more lines. I noticed that Wal Mart does not always carry them, they may be seasonal. I think they were about $35 back then.

Do a search for 'Hills Hoist', I am sure you will find what you want.

My mother had one of those. We had great fun with it. On non-wash days, she'd pin up old bedspreads or sheets, and we'd have a tent (with no roof though!).

I see them occasionally at various hardware stores. Go to one of the small locals who care about their customers. Have them check their catalogs if they've never heard of them. Try to get someone who's worked there a long time.

We have one like that, got it at Lowes 3 years ago. It cost 50.00 or so. We sunk a T-post in the ground good and wired the clothes wheel to that, and it still spins good. Mine is fine, just be sure to balance out the heavy stuff so it dosen't lean one way.

Pickett Fences catalog had one for sale--don't know for how much, don't have the catalog anymore.

Do you like the umbrella type because you can take it down? Why not consider the reels with clotheline on posts? These are easily removed if you want and are very effective since the clothes are spread out. Of course, I am assuming you have room to string one up. You can use a tree for one post if you need to.

I got mine at an Ace Hardware store in Columbia MO about 4 years ago.

I spent the past year looking for one of these umbrella clothes poles and finally found one online at Red Hill General Store for about $50 including shipping. Go to www.redhillgeneralstore.com. I've only had it for a few months, but so far it's been perfect.

I bought and installed one of the umbrella-type clothes lines this weekend. I bought it for $35 at Dixieline Lumber (southern CA). The clothes pins were another $5 for 96.

Lehman's catalog has one also. It's called their "spinning clothes dryer" Have fun!

I found a manufacturer of umbrella type clothes dryers, as well as retractable ones: http://www.buttsmfg.com/index.htm (This is a bonafide website, honest) On another website, they list for around $40: http://intercenter.com/catalog/shopping/item/000330/icn/20-156075/butt s/1600.
