I have AMD K6 2 550Mhz,128Ram,Voodoo3 2000,Tuner Hauppauge WinTv pci and i whant a software to make video capture in a good quality , not AVI format (to much space),with a "little compression". -Virtual Dub is OK but need more CPU speed in 640-480 video format! -Windows media encoder OK, same problem, CPU more speed

Hi Dan, Your CPU is really too underpowered to do much more than MPEG-1 video capture. My personal feeling is that anything less than 700 Mhz is unsuitable for serious video capture and I would not recommend using anything less than 1 GHz if possible. If you record at VCD capture rates, such as 352x280, you could probably use Virtual Dub, but of course quality will suffer. Recording higher quality video such as MPEG-2 puts a huge load on a CPU and you would need a better one than you have now. You might be able to get decent results recording directly to DivX format. If you load the DivX codecs (you can get them at www.divx-digest.com, www.doom9.net and other places) you can essentially record a highly compressed AVI file, but whether your CPU is powerful enough or not, I don't know, but it might be worth trying.

Thanks , Jason , indeed the CPU speed is crucial in video capture! i have to make a 'little' investments in CPU and motherboard , too !
