Moving house, starting this afternoon. Have to change phone nos again!

-- Anonymous, June 08, 2001

You as well Tony? I'm in the middle (muddle??) of that right now, but with tha added complication of nowhere to move to :-(

Not as bad as it seems - at least my wordly goods (and bads) will be housed in storage (aka me Ma's garage) in Blyth pending a more permanent move to a place of my own when I return from my next short trip. Ah - I can almost hear the chimes from the Civic Centre right now ;-)

So, to answer the question, I'll be packing boxes, transporting boxes, unloading them and having a few well-deserved drinks this weekend (and the next).

Introducing my daughter to one of my other passions, `arctophilia`. There`s quite a bit of money to be made, and I think she`s old enough, don`t you?(;o)

Visiting my new Bengal queen later, to see how she is developing. She moves in with us in a few weeks time. Piccies of the litter on www.yingmocats.co.uk - just in case anyone is interested. I know someone on here asked me about Bengals.(:o)

-- Anonymous, June 09, 2001

On the subject of Bengals, if anyone is looking for a `challenge`, there are two 14 month old neutered female Bengals in Whitley Bay which are looking for a new home. The advert says `must have access to secure outside run`. I suspect they have been confined in the house on their own, and have been `ripping the place up`. I guess the `problem` is with the owners not the cats, and with appropriate indoor and outdoor accommodation, I bet these would be fantastic pets. If anyone wants further info, let me know. They could, of course, have already been placed.(:o)

Which one is yours - they look gorgeous.

We're off to spend our first weekend in the cottage we recently bought near Embleton. Naturally, it's raining - so I'm not overly enthusiastic at this point.
No telly as yet, and still haven't got round to organising a laptop to enable me to stay in touch with the civilised world, and also Greenspun (only kidding!).
No telephone either, and no signal for the mobile - be better connected on the Moon! Having fun & games with BT - something like trying to deal with a former Eastern Bloc Government I should imagine. They apparently have no computer record of having cabled the property, despite the fact there is grey connection box on the side of the property with a BT logo on it, and a cable going into it. Because of this I have had to agree to pay them a possible connection charge of £49, just in case!
We have no curtains up as yet, so am taking copious quantities of sellotape to fasten cardboard to the Velux skylight windows in the bedroom.
A back to basics weekend - however, the prospect of a good night in the local pub complete with pub grub might just make up for the discomforts. Why, the sun might even put in an appearance at some point.
Talk ta yer all on Monday.

Steph - I'm seeing Neil Young next Friday in Brum. Tonight - penultimate And and Dec show. Yippee. Last night, for those to whom this means anything, went to see J Mascis, who was joined on stage by Ron Asheton, The Stooges' guitarist. Unfortunately he now looks more like Ron Dixon. Bobby Gillespie came on to sing No Fun with them and then attacked someone in the crowd with the mic stand. All this and Mark Eitzel too. Ears still ringing.

Ok, Galaxy, I'll bite...what's 'arctophilia'? Is it an uncontrollable urge to go to the Arctic? ;-)))

The kitties look very cute...but then most are to me anyhow. It does sound like the Whitley Bay cats are more a victim of owners not giving them the right attention. A friend of mine adopted 2 formerly stray and abused cats in December. One(an adult already) started on a kind of foster arrangement because it had been abandoned to the streets so she wasn't sure if it would take to being an indoor apartment dweller. Her job allows her to work from home 2 days a week, so she's been able to give the cats plenty of attention and love. Shakespeare(the former outdoor cat) has adapted very well and is finally to the point now that he doesn't feel the need to go racing out the door the second it's opened. The other cat was about 10mos old at adoption and had been abused so his problem has been more of learning to trust. He's turned into an amazingly lovable little thing now, happily strutting his big, bushy black and white tail. :-)

Ciara......Teddy bear collector! (:o)

Josh....the little pale girl on the right in the shield, she should end up looking like `Storyteller` the Mum in the picture with the kittens. She should be quite a stunner when she grows up! (:o)

-- Anonymous, June 09, 2001

So if that is a collector what is a maker?

Mrs gus is quite talented in the Teddy department.

Still prefer Birmans too. :o)

-- Anonymous, June 09, 2001

Gus....an arctor, arctovist, arctition, arcist....? Dunno!(;o)

Does Mrs. Gus make them as a business, or a hobby?(:o)

-- Anonymous, June 09, 2001

Well, worra fabjous weekend. P!$$!ng rain on the way up on Saturday but the draw of the Geordie Nation pulled me thru and the effort was wel worthwhile.

A reunion with north Northumberland reminded me what was missing from my life for a long time, and today, the sun rose brightly (well, it was bright when I finally left the sack) and the car was again pointed northwestwards (remember, it was in Blyth at the time) and the Cheviots and the Coquet Valley beckonned.

Went looking for empty hooses to rent and even tried looking for True and his missus in their new gaff in Hepple but failed dismally. Ne'ertheless, found a cottage which is still believed to be vaccant, so fingers crossed for successful viewing of Screacher Towers (despite being a cottage) in the near future.

To cumlinate (?) the day, a charming bottle of Iqbal's finest made a pretty good end to a splendid day......topped off with a Boddington's Cocktail (poured gently, not stirred).

-- Anonymous, June 10, 2001

Argghhh, did not see your post til I got to work this morning Screacher. If I had seen it last night I would have headed for the airport instead.

I've got the digital camera, but was coming over for the pint!!

So what is with the vaCCant kotidge then?

-- Anonymous, June 10, 2001

Screacher - hit the nail on the head marra - tis a beautiful spot here. Sitting at me PC overlooking the Coquet, Tosson Hill raising its head in the background, watching wor lass digging the leek trench.
from Rothbury, find the Hepple Post Office. Sharp turn right after 200 yards (East Hepple).
