From what I gather this is a FIFA v UEFA tiff. FIFA can diminish the power of UEFA by ruining their sacred (cash)cow, the Euro Championships.

Of all the things I said about UEFA in the past, they are professionals compared to those wankers in FIFA.

Can't see a problem with condensing the world cup qualifiers and the euro championships. I'd rather watch a major competition every year.

As for qualifying, Instead of groups of 5 or 6 teams playing 8 or 10 games over two years , why not have 8 groups of 3 (4 games in one year.) . That I hear you say is only 24 teams. The other 24 teams would have been eliminated after a home and away game with the other 24 teams. having firsty seeded the top 24 teams from the bottom ones and drawn one seeded against one unseeded team. Obviously the likes of Leichenstien, Andora and the Faroes would have to pre qiualify .
