Questions re: Dyer

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Would Dyer crack the full England starting line up if fit?

If not, where does he fit in the England squad reckonning?

How deep do you think a fully fit England squad would be?

he'd play left wing...the last time he played there we beat Wednesday and Thome 8-0

Radio 5 interviewed Oliver Holt and a German journalist about the game last night. Holt went down the usual route of being happy, but not liking Heskey.

The German was asked if England could win in Munich. He said they shouldn't be scared of Germany, would always worry them at free kicks but that England really needed more flair in midfield, either by bringing in Joe Cole or Dyer. So the German press know he's good.

So to help Dyer's England career we should play him on the left to solve both our problem and theirs? If it works of course.

Can't see Bobby going for it though, he's had a fair few opportunities to try that and hasn't.

if you recall him cutting in from the left killed Sheff.

i'm staggered he hasn't repeated it, mind he got injured in that game, so maybe it's a body position thing?

Also, one of his best goals (IMHO) against Spurs in the 6-1 drubbing. That was a great move coming in from the left.

That's it then, Solano wide right, Dyer wide left, Carrick and Speed bossing the middle. Three out of four aint bad

drop Lee in with those and drop Speed out and that looks like an awesome midfield...

If it's so simple and obvious why hasn't it been done more often when Solano and Dyer have been in the same team. Bobby doesn't rate it.

"be simple not simpler"

because as is plainly obvious they link up so well

Carrick on the left, Lee in the middle with Dyer on his right and Solano on his right...

Manchester United are out of the running for Newcastle midfielder Kieron Dyer, according to the player's agent. United were reported to have matched Newcastle's asking price of £20million, with striker Dwight Yorke heading to Tyneside in return.

But the midfielder's agent has denied that any bid has been made, and indicated that several foreign clubs are ahead of the champions in the hunt for the former Ipswich man.

His agent told Ananova.com: "If Newcastle said they wanted to get rid of him, he'd talk. But my indication is that Newcastle would want in excess of £20million for him and nobody has offered that amount.

"I don't think Manchester United are favourites, I think there are other clubs ahead of them. There are two in Italy and one in Spain."

The two Italian clubs are thought to be Juventus and Inter Milan, while Leeds United are also rumoured to be interested in a swap deal with Michael Bridges - who is a native of the north-east.

Dyer is currently recovering from a shin splint injury. He has undergone treatment which included grafting part of his hip bone onto his shin to cure the problem.

He is keen to get back into the England squad after an absence of over a year. He was named by Sven-Goran Eriksson in the side to face Spain at Villa Park, but had to withdraw through injury.

Dyer still has three years left to run on his contract at St James' Park, but an offer of £20million is sure to be tempting for Bobby Robson.

His agent added: "At the moment Kieron is injured and all he wants to do is get back to playing football.

"He wants to see who Newcastle buy and what their ambitions are before he makes a decision. But he wants to get his face back in the England team."
