Knee Replacement, whats the best place?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : About Joints : One Thread

Mi grandpa had a arthoscopy in his knee last year, but his other leg is giving him a hard time. We are from Mexico and his doctor sugested a Total Knee Replacement.

We think in looking for surgery options in USA, but dont know with are the most recognized centers for this kind of surgery, any advice, or doctor recommendations?

Your info will be truly appreciatted

This site is maintained by the surgeons of The Johns Hopkins Department of Orthopaedics Division of Arthritis Surgery. We perform more joint replacements at The Good Samaritan Hospital than any other hospital in Maryland.

Other centers include the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.

If you are yet looking, a good way to find a hospital is to enter www.usnews.com and use their search feature. In the Search text box, enter best hospitals orthopedics. You will get a list and the reasons they are best. Or you can find the July 11, 2002 issue of U. S. News and World Reports. The top orthopedics hospitals listed are:

Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota. Hospital for Special Surgery, New York Massachussets General Hospita, Boston, Massachussets Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, Maryland Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio Duke University Medical Center, Durham, North Carolina UCLA Medical Center, Los Angeles, California
