The Poe Toaster

I was wondering if anyone had info on the Poe Toaster. This person could not go on doing this activity forever, because they are only a mortal human being, and I would like to carry on this tradition. Just curious as to if anyone has info, or if it would be appropriate to approach this person after their ususal ceremony in the cemetary

There was a rumor at the time of Poe's death that he was experimenting with an elixir for eternal life, in conjunction with an unnamed physician in Baltimore. Maybe it is the same guy!

As for approaching him, the Curator of the Poe House and the Supervisor of the Annual Birthday Party Jeff Gerome is pretty anti anyone approaching the guy and lifting the veil of mystery. It's also a fact that if there is anyone around during that evening, then the guy won't show up til they leave. I watched him from inside the church in 1989. It was awesome.

It was awesome to have seen it. My longtime friend and writing partner, Mark Janas, and I have written a musical about him... PoeSCrypt. It was produced this past halloween at the Spirit of Broadway Theater in Norwich CT. We are hoping to take it to Broadway or London's West End.
