Capture with Voodoo3 3500?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

Hi! Does anyone can explain how to capture VHS with my Voodoo3 3500? I got a new version of Ulead Video studio and some patches but everytime I try to capture something, I get a error message like "kernel...blah,blah". Otherwise, when it doesn't show I get a some scrambled lines in the bottom of the screen. Second question. My card is made for US market and it's in NTSC system. But, I'm in Europe and I have a PAL. How can I make my tv tuner to work in this system?

I don't know the answer to the first question.

But for the second question regarding the NTSC and PAL capturing, your video capture card driver should be able to do so (I think). Most of the capture cards have options to change the set up and thre may be some option in your driver for "video source" and ther you may be able to make a selection if the input is NTSC or PAL or otherwise. At the same time you may be able to select the "video format" from that selection to capture the video frame size. If you dont have that NTSC/PAL option for "video source", I think you are stuck with NTSC. ( I have a very cheap video capture card and even that has this capability !! ). To my limited knowledge i dont think you can change if your video capture card driver does not support it unless there is a way to fool the drive by some gimic which may be advised by some guru here. Good Luck.
