HAVE YOU EVER, EVER HEARD OF A PLACE CALLED "YANKEE STADIUM" OR "MADISON SQUARE GARDEN" OR "THE BOSTON GARDEN" OR "WRIGLEY FIELD" OR EVEN...........FOR MS. P. .........."EBBETTS FIELD"?????

I agree this NICELY PROVES THAT THE VOTERS OF THAT LOCALE HAVE NO INTEREST........WHATEVER.....in becoming "A WORLD CLASS CITY".

2012 bid cities await briefing

05/01/2001

By Cathy Harasta / The Dallas Morning News

U.S. Olympic Committee officials will brief the eight 2012 bid committees at a Wednesday meeting in Colorado Springs, Colo.

"I don't really expect any big surprises," Dallas 2012 president Richard Greene said on Monday.

Also on Wednesday, the USOC will name the team that will visit the 2012 bid cities beginning in June, USOC media coordinator Kevin Neuendorf said. The team should number between six and 10 members, with each visit lasting four days.

Dallas, Cincinnati, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Tampa, Fla., and Washington-Baltimore are in the hunt to become the first U.S. city to host the Summer Games since Atlanta in 1996.

The USOC has the right to cut the field from eight to four or five late this year or next spring, with selection of the candidate scheduled for October 2002. The International Olympic Committee will name the 2012 host in 2005.

Greene said the U.S. bid committees originally were invited to the USOC's semiannual board meeting in San Jose, Calif., last weekend. He said the USOC then decided the Wednesday briefing better suited new oversight rules governing the bid process.

Hey that's terrific! With Tom Hicks, the Hunt Brothers, Jerry Jones, and Ross Perot on board you have a "good shot". What is the event again? The Olympics? Hahaha like anyone cares?

Glad I do not have to use the town I park my hat at as an excuse for a personality. To each his own.

BTW, Cowboys? hahahahaaa DStars? hahahahaa TRangers? hahahahaa Spurs? hahahahaaa Astros? hahahahahaha Keep trying, despite the Texas jinx, toss enough awl dollars at a sport and youalls get lucky sometimes.

In the same vein,

Are not these wacky tourism TV Ads for Arkansas, Nebraska, and South Dakota not the funniest thing you have ever seen?

Sorry but I don't think even if I had 14 weeks of vaca I would consider "vacationing" in Arkansas thank you.

But hey ya gotta spend the taxpayers money somehow so who am I to bitch how they do it.
