Assuming you have read them both you might start with the characters- a man whose love has died. Then there is the peculiar mood that unites them both. The separation from the loved one(Lenore, Ligeia) is not just a fond memory or longing or hope. There is a chilling otherness that both attracts and repels, a creeping then climactic horror. The thread in Ligeia is her "will", a force determined to transcend death, while that in The Raven is the bird's repetitive omen "Nevermore," equally stronger than the narrator who is overwhelmed. That's enough for a start?
