greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon EOS FAQ forum : One Thread

As We know you cant use the 2x with the 80-200L becuse of the protruding front Element of the converter.

My question is what if i put a ext tube between converter and lens? Would this work and what would be the effect would like to use it sometime but not all the time With the 2x or 1.4 but dont want to buy 3rd party

Thx

It may be fine for macro work, but it won't focus beyond 5-10 feet or so; certainly not at infinity. I've used the 12mm ext. tube and 80-200 for closeups in a pinch and had no problems, although I've never tried the tube between a teleconverter and the lens.

If you want to use the 80-200 at distances greater than 10 feet or so with a teleconverter, you'll have to buy a non-Canon TC.

I use a kenko pro on my 80-200 2.8.
