Hi, I am from the UK Please could anyone help i have been searching for a cheap vcd player for a while, preferably a portable one. Here in the uk they are next to impossible to purchase and if anything they are rediculously priced. My friend has been over to HK recently and say they are extremely cheap over there betweeen $60 - $100 which is good but i have been searching on the net for a web site which does them but to no avail. Please has anyone got a suggestion for webs sites

Why should this be a problem?? If you can't find a VCD player then get a DVD player known to play VCDs and CD-Rs as well. You can get info from www.vcdhelp.com then knowing which DVD player it is trawl through the ads at Which CD, Which Hi-Fi, and Which Camcorder magazines to get it.

To put the record straight, a DVD player will never be an acceptable replacement for a good VCD player. There are numerous functions and remote control buttons available on a good VCD to enhance the playing of a movie or a Karaoke VCD that are not possible on a DVD player. Scratched or poor quality VCD that stalls a DVD player would simply continue playing on a good VCD player. Last and not least most VCD players today will also play MP3 and display their titles on the screen.

Get your friend to buy one for you next time he or she travels to Hong Kong or any city in South East Asia. A VCD player cost only about one third the price of a cheap China produced DVD player and can come in very compact size just right for carrying on the plane.

I bought mine from Vientiane, Laos last year, it cost me $53 USD. It can not play US DVD at all, but it play Chinese DVD and all VCD include home made VCD and CD-R.

yeaahhh they r really cheap in this part of the world ..in india they cost close to 1800 rupees thats 35 $ approx but if u r smart enough like me u could convince a dumb chinese bulk manufacturer to send u a sample (of course u pay the sample price + frieght) in china players cost 20 to 22 $ )imagine a mp3 vcd cd player for 20 $ !!!!! yeahh i got a deal for 25 including frieght to new delhi india and to top it this dumbo also sent me loads of litrature and pamplets...haha . one site i can recommend to catch those dumb bulk manufacturers is alibaba.com or ebigchina.com.......happy hunting
