Villa defender link

Sounds like a right tosser who we would be better off leaving to Arsenal if by some weird quirk of mercenary footballer fate, they actually want the bloke. Doesn't seem to be making noises about joining us so I think we can sleep safely.

OUTSPOKEN Aston Villa defender Ozalan Alpay has claimed that he is being tracked by Arsenal and Newcastle United.

Planetfootball.com have discovered that the Turkish international would love to make a move to Highbury, but is concerned that any potential switch would be blocked by Villa boss John Gregory.

"Besiktas and Fenerbahce have asked me if I would like to join them, but I declined the offers without thinking, as I would like to stay in England for the next five years," said the 28-year-old.

"Arsenal and Newcastle have also made enquiries about me.

"I'm under contract at the moment, but, if the coach would allow it, I'd love to play for Arsenal."

Alpay has been strongly linked with a return to his former club Besiktas in the past, although the claims regarding Arsenal and Newcastle will doubtless cause a few eyebrows to be raised.

When making previous controversial comments about his life in the Midlands, he claimed he was misquoted on the subject, but expressing a desire to join one of Villa's Premiership rivals is unlikely to go down too well at Villa Park.

We can do without wankers like him. I never once noticed him during last season.

Tall, often looked as though he'd died his hair wahite, played as if he had influences from French/Swiss/Italian/Austrian sources. From the same stable as Blanc and Eiger.

No, I don't want Alpay.

He said when he signed for Villa that he only joined them in order to get noticed by Manchester United, not really the best thing to say when you want the fans on your side IMHO.

Keep well away, he's not that good anyway, O'Brien and Dabs are better.
