Another Player?.....gone...

Not really bothered either way really. Quinn has had some incredible criticism this season in a short space of time, because he came from the 1st Division. Why would Robbie Elliot be any different?

I don't subscribe to the 'he's a geordie' viewpoint.

How about the amount of goals he scored for us from a defensive/midfield position in his last season with us? anyone got the exact figure....i'm certain it was 8 or 10 and that was under Dogleash!!

robbie elliot was sticking them away, if he takes the offer, fair enough, but i liked him and would be happy t o see him back.

7 goals in 15 starts from 29/1/97 to end of season, 8 of the games were played at left back, 7 left sided midfield instead of Ginola (not a Dalglish type of player, I believe)

Couldn't see him being as good off the ball as Speed if he did play in midfield.

In the opta statistics funnily enough Warren collected more off the ball points than Speedy, mind you, 798 of them were for clapping which he's good at.

I think any of Speed's clapping deserves particular merit as he so often had to clap in a position in which he wasn't used to be, either defensive clapping, or wide left, one-handed clapping, which is special skill.

We surely couldn't with his loss up front where his clapping in the air has often noted by correspondents.

I think if he was allowed to play in one particualr position for a while then he would be get to know the rhythm better and the supporters could join in with his off the ball clapping and appreciate it as an invaluable asset in a team player.

If Elliot signs it has to be as 1st choice left back. He was simply class for us.

What a left back who can actually defend? Surely not - why we haven't one of those since.....well....er.....well, since Robbie Elliott actually!

Haha macbeth, one handed clapping.

That skill alone is the reason Gary Speed has been offered a new contract.

Robbie Elliot, has to be....surely better than anyone else we have got to play in his position. And I don't say that just because he's a geordie, but because he may even enhance the team. He always looked like a canny player to me.

exactly marty.

He never failed us, we [TSM] failed him by shockingly letting him move on when he would almost certainly have developed into a class left-back /left midfielder. The fact that he's a Geordie is incidental in this case.
