Leica spotting...

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

If you want to see a REALLY black M6, check out the ON ASSIGNMENT pages of the June 2001 National Geographic - Vince Musi and his "black-dot" body fresh from the depths of a Welsh coal mine. With rewind crank instead of a knob, is that a "Millenium" body, an LHSA body, or, as a pro, did he just wangle a black dot from Leica service?

Yet another example of why the world still needs an all-mechanical camera - nothing like a spark from the motors of an electronic marvel to create unintended excitement in an environment choked with methane gas and coal dust!

BTW, to follow up a Nat. Geo. thread from July 2000: There was a second picture of the photographer with the mystery M-lens in the back of the book - different angle - clearly a pre-ASPH 21 2.8 with square plastic hood - this is supported by the look of his wide-angle pictures of the Turkish earthquake, which have the classic pre-ASPH softness in the corners.
