I am looking at this lens to buy, but am having trouble with outer bayonet mount. It seems that my pentaprism meter willl not work with this lens, is that true. Also with the Vivitar doubler on, the lens will not focus to infinity. Has anyone out there used this lens much, any tricks to the outer bayonet mount, thanks-Pat

Both of my bodies have had trouble at times with my two outer bay lenses. I think it's a design flaw. I'd say the meter doesn't function 10% of the time. What helps is to remount the lens. This will usually work. Haven't used the Vivitar 2x but if want to keep it, one trick is to put in a rear filter in the 400 (which will change your infinity focus)and allow you to use the Vivitar. After many years of use without seeing that problem, this has appeared on my set the other day. The needle just hits the ceiling and don't move from there. Has anyone found a fix to that flaw? I tried mounting the lens and pentaprism again without change.
