Jeffers put Toffees in a sticky position

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Seems like Francis Jeffers has refused to sign a new contract at Everton and they have reluctantly put him up for sale. Asking price is likely to be £10M (according to Auntie) but they expect he will eventually go for £8M. @rse are top of the list with Monkey Heed also reported to be interested. Well, with lugs like that, you'd expect him to be ;-)

According to Teamtalk!

Bobby Robson has told Everton he will match any bid for striker Francis Jeffers after the young hitman was placed on the transfer list. Before leaving for a brief end-of-season holiday yesterday, Robson asked The Toffees to keep him informed of Jeffers' situation, raising the possibility of a bidding war between United and neighbours Sunderland for the 20-year-old starlet.

I still feel it is Sunderland's best chance of getting their hands on something resembling the FA Cup

This story is in the Journal as well this morning, but I imagine the story is intended to whip up a frenzy between Sunlung and us.

Seems a good finisher but the prices being talked about put me off, with him being valued in the £8 million bracket.

For him pace kills, its like "Speed kills" but different

I don't mind getting into a bidding war with Sunlung as long as we drive the price up high enough and then pull out....

I don't really understand why Sunderland are interested they have two excellent forwards in Quinn and Phillips

Premier league's best strike partnership I was led to believe.
