Why did it take me so long to find y'all? You went away and left me! Seriously, I just found this forum after some disturbing reading on both CS and Beyond the Sidewalks. They were badmouthing the kooks at Freedom! and I knew where all the kindred kooks...er..spirits had gone. I'm still a Christian, still a homesteader, still contrary, still in need of spirited conversation. Things have gotten hectic on our little hill, what with baby goats, the garden and orchard, and new chicks due on Sunday, but I'm looking forward to catching up with everyone. In accordance with the date, God bless all who fought and died for our freedom, and God bless America.

Melina, nice to see you over here. Glad to be one of your kindred kooks(lol)...I'm also a Christian homesteader,quite contrary, and love spirited conversation myself(lol). About Memorial Day...watched some of the specials about Pearl Harbor and was quite struck by those young (very many teenage) faces. Not much older than my boys. My Dad fought in WWII and it was one of those defining things for him. After all these years, he still goes back for his ship reunions. And he mentioned to me today that he had been down to the cemetary to put out flags, and would be back this evening to bring them in.

Melina, good to see you here! It's almost (not really) funny how the forum split up. You could just about guess who would go to Beyond the Sidewalks and who would come to the Freedom forum here. I have lurked a couple of times on the Beyond the Sidewalks forum and it has really upset me to see some of the people there and to hear some of the things they have to say. Gets my blood pressure up! Guess I need to stay away from there! It's been all I can do to keep from posting something on there or CS but then it would probably be deleted!!! Thank goodness for this forum!

Welcome! Yep, this is where the "kooks" congregate all right. All us kooks that can stand someone having an opinion different from our own, and can reply to others without getting personal and bashing the other person's character. The more I look at the liberal forums, the more I realize that many of the participants really are not very liberal at all. Just liberal with expressing their own opinions.
