Brazilian Playmaker

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

According to my local Japanese newspaper. Newcastle are about to sign a Brazilian playmaker (whose name I can't remember) for 10 million of your British pounds from a Spanish team. A source close to Bobby said that Robson had been following the guy for some time.

Any rumnours in Spain Swift?

Sounds like a rehash of the Djalminha story from a couple of months ago Kegsy. Sounded as if Roger Garcia from Swift's new(?) club Espanol was being touted as his replacement. The Brazilian who must be a 30something by now seemed to make varying impressions during this year's Champions League games for Deportivo La Coruna - in particular in their ties against Leeds. As always, treat with a vat of salt until press conference is called !!

That's the one. I always thought that he was a spin bowler playing for Pakistan but apparently not.

heehee. That's all we need playing for the toon - a cricket-style match fixer! There again, maybe we already have a few that get paid to chuck matches. It would at least explain recent performances

;o)

the only rumours here have been that we were after Jan Veneger of Hasselink that Celta wanted also...Djahlminha is on a par with any creative midfielder in the prem, he has a hot temper and isn't afraid to mix it. Imagine Dacourt and Jay Jay Okocha and you have Djahlminha. He would be an instant hero.

Jay Jay - who he ??

Nigerian Pele, plays for PSG, an alchemist with the ball at his feet, wears white boots...

Thanks for that description Swift - it made me think of Paolo Di Canio. Any comparisons/differences you'd care to comment on ?

jj and dicanio are very similar, jj being of more talent

sorry mate I meant comparison between PdC and Kegsy's reported target Djalminha ! Both 30 +, both clearly talented & with suspect temperaments - but I was wondering how you'd rate the Brazilian against the Italian ... not least in terms of the job they could do for us versus the sorts of money that gets touted for each ? Both MAY be available

i would rather have dmina simply because he'd be ours, and not whams, if you get my drift...dmina has less of the humour of pdc though so that might swing it. Dmina would storm the prem, he has that instinctive dinky pass that Totti has, with a pacy forward to slip it too he'd murder other teams, or he could just walk it into the net, more natural talent in a player than i've seen for a while. Howevre, he could easily flip and smack someone. A geordie star in the making. Also with a word in the ear from Helder...

He sounds an excellent acquisition - IF it comes off; IF he's motivated to do well in the PL as oppsed to showboat for the cash; IF he's able to adapt to the English game before his legs go on him blah blah blah.

Of course, we'd be doing our annual piss-several-million-poond-up-the- wall if we brought 'DJ' in but failed to also buy at least one pacy intelligent forward for him to pass the bugga to !

don't forget dmina is a hard sod too, he likes to get stuck in Keane style. He's big, too, and with one of those desailly stares he'd be great in our m.f

sdtop it softy, thats just given me the shivers

Bless you!

Hey Softie, I'll chuck in a Mirandinha and see you ! The poor sod's probably STILL running around brazil looking for a b&w shirt to pass to !!

Swift - this guy sounds far too good to be true. Sounds as if his temperament must make him a real liability - why else isn't he playing for Real. Or for Arsenal ?

it would be like Viera going to Man U...
