It's Official - the majority of Manure fans are glory-hunters!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

A national survey carried out for the PL has analysed ST holders in England and Scotland, looked at where they live, how much they earn, and how much they spend following their teams.

This survey confirms what most people have long suspected - NE teams are the best supported in Britain. Not only are they the most loyal, they spend more cash following their team, despite earning less than most of the rest of the country.

Looking at how many ST holders are locally born, Newcastle & Boro came out top with 84%, with SAFC close behind at 83%. Rather surprisingly, Celtic were only 71% and Rangers even lower at 65%.

However, most interesting of all is the information everyone has suspected for many years - only 46% of Manure ST holders were born locally! Finally, proof positive that they are gold-digging, glory-hunters! QED.

It was the front page story in today's Sunday Sun, Bud.
Unfortunately, it doesn't say precisely who carried out the survey, other than it was "a National survey carried out for the Premier League".

it was generally available at the end of last week, try rivals.net maybe, stacks of stats, softie has been engrossed in them since early friday morning

It was carried out by the University of Leicester on behalf of the Premier League I believe.

The one stat that it doesn't show is that 54% of Manure ST holders were born in London.

Let the wind up begin ;-7

Go ahead.....let the wind-up begin. You'll be crying in yer ale and throwing yer rattles by round two.

Those "stats" (funny how when I SHOW United's attendance figures over the YEARS on here, I get the line about stat's being able to prove anything!!!) don't mention the percentage of the club's capacity that is weighted by ST's! It means feck all.

I would seriously laugh my tits off if I was to find out you ACTUALLY believed that MUFC are say No. 2 in Manchester. Our out of town support pisses on all comers. Always has. ALWAYS has. The finest and most loyal following in the land.

Ding ding!!
