do soaker hoses need any great water pressure? Im thinking of hooking them up to a rain barrel. Will it work? Either that,, or I poke a bunch of holes into a regular hose,which I dont want to do, itll be a pain to get the flow correct.

Soaker hoses need low pressure.The instructions that came with mine recommended opening the valve only 1/4 turn.High pressure will cause them to split.And yes,that's how I learned to read the instructions.:>)

Low pressure but still you will need some pressure. More than a barrel will give you. Incidently I found that I could not use water from our spring because it eventuraly stopped up the soaker hose. So if anyone would like some soaker hose cheap let me know. I have six or seven hundred foot rolls in the back of the shop.

We once had a "home-made" soaker hose--our boys pounded nails in a perfectly good garden hose when they were four and five--that worked fine with low pressure. Higher pressure made it more like a sprinkler, which is what the boys were after.

david....we were thinking of using a soaker hose with one end in our creek to water our graden. right now we have a hose with holes poked in it but we can't get it to come out all the holes at the same time. do you think it would clog up like yours did? if not, how much are you selling for?-jo.
