Karaoke is big business, in Asia at least, and it will cost you to get the proper tools to do the lot properly. This not some casual thing. For a start, for instance, you can go to www.bernclare.com which sells a propfessional karaoke titler program for Win98 but you fork $800 for it first. The alternative is to put titles in the appropriate scenes, which is a feature all self-respecting NLEs (like Premiere and MediaStudio) have, but it will not be as fancy as what a true-blue karaoke app like the one from bernclare will do.

I know the easy and cheap way to make vcd karaoke without additional hardwares. The tools: 1. Camtasia ($150) which is a screen capture program. Get a 30 days Trial version at: ftp://ftp.techsmith.com/pub/products/camtasia/CamtasiaF.exe 2. Karaoke Kit which is a karaoke titling program. The demo allow you to do 10 lines of lyrics which is good enough or you'll pay $800 for full version. Get Demo at: http://www.overlaytools.com/demo/kkitdemo.zip

3. Adobe Premiere ($500) which is video editing program.

This is how I do: 1. Create a text file( only 10 lines of lyrics if you're using Karaoke Kit Demo) Load it into Karaoke Kit, and adjust the timing with the song. Make back ground to blue.(you will key out later in Adobe Premiere) Run it. The lyrics will display on the screen. 2. Use Camtasia to capture every movement on the screen. 3. Load the video titling clip that you captured with Camtasia into Adobe Premiere. Load the song, and any video clips that you want to be shown on the background of titling clip. 4. Put titling clip in video Track 2. Go to video option and choose transparancy. Then choose Blue Screen. This allow video clips in video Track 1 to be shown through the background of titling clip. 5. Play the song and make adjustment to the titling clip. Move it backward and forward until the lyric in synth with the song. 6. Just render it,and export it to a VCD. 7. That's all. I will try to write a complete step by step tutorial with pictures. This would be easier to follow. Any question, just let me know. bye! 5. Any video clips in video Track 1.
