Setting Cabinets

Setting or installing kitchen cabinets was once done only by pros, but now more and more homeowners are taking on this type of project. Home centers are stocking cabinets and all the other components needed to remodel the kitchen. Depending on the particular kitchen, someone with intermediate skills may handle installing new cabinets, but kitchen remodeling can become very complex. If you are considering such a project, here are a few pointers. Find the highest spot on the floor and use it as a starting point. Some cabinets will sit on the highest spot and others will have to be shimmed to that height. Set corner cabinets first and work out from there. Hang upper cabinets before lower cabinets. Never use drywall screws when hanging cabinets -- use cabinet screws.
