Dyer resumes training

Expect the transfer talk to start up again

Kieron Dyer has been given the green light to hit the comeback trail.

But Newcastle United are keeping a tight rein on their prize asset because Bobby Robson does not want to risk his midfield maestro breaking down by coming back too early.

So while Dyer is champing at the bit, he will not start running for another couple of weeks.

However, Dyer has still set himself a target of playing some part in Rob Lee's testimonial against Athletic Bilbao at St James's Park on August 11 - seven days before United's Premiership season gets under way.

Dyer has been in Newcastle this week to see his specialist and to have X-rays on the shin injury which saw him bow out of United's season at the end of February.

This is excellent news, as long as we hold onto him like you say!

Any news on Cort yet? It's not looking good from what I've read. Forget new signings, if we can get, and keep, all our existing players fit it will be like having 4 new players!

Cort's injury seems like abad sprain and as such there could be slight ligament damage. Nothing major to worry about I hope. He will be fit for the start of the season as long as he stays out of trouble till then!

Teamtalk have the following pessimistic report on CC:

......there are fears that he may now have seriously damaged his ankle ligaments, which would mean another lengthy spell on the sidelines.
A club spokesman said: "Carl is still undergoing scans and tests, so the extent of the injury is still not known.
