Apparently Sol Campbell has turned down an £80,000 a week offer from Spurs and will now talk to the Top English clubs, including Arsenal about a move.

Stam and Campbell? Ouch! Where is the weakness in that pairing?

Why aren't we in the hunt for him?

Just shows you how far backwards we have gone.

If we mean business, we should be buying up ever top class player currently available such as Campbell, Fowler and Lampard.

Another mid-table finish next season I'm afraid.

Mungo, it is indeed a sad indictment of the club that (a) we can not afford such players and (b) attract them even if we could afford them. However, we need only look 70 miles or so down the A1 to take a bit of hope. A few years ago, no £18M player would have considered going to Elland Road. But with a good youth policy to bring on some excellent potential, plus a board with a vision and a purpose (cue Clarky), they have pulled themselves up to become one of the (potentially) top clubs in the land, if not Europe. And we beat them twice last season ;-)

Sky text says Campbell is talking to Arsenal Man U and Newcastle

One of the papers reckoned he was talking to Liverpool & mentioned Champions League.

Its pie in the sky about the Toon - but if YBR could get him up to the Toon you never know - he was never appreciated from what I could see at Tottingham.

He was appreciated at Spurs, but the last year has been a strange one as most fans knew he was only playing to see out his contract to get the wages.

It would be a masterstroke if we could pull that one off though and get Campbell, but I can't see it happening unfortunately. I think he may go to Liverpool to form a Hyypia / Campbell centre defence pairing.
