Have you heard today's news that McDonalds fries were precooked in beef fat in the States (not here apparently) and a lot of vegetarians were misled by their claim that they are cooked in vegetable oil. They were cooked in veg oil in the restaurant itself.

This is doubtless leading to a multi-million law-suit as vegetarians, Hindus, etc, have presumably suffered traumatic stress syndrome (or some other such thing that no-one's heard of yet) on discovering this news.

Why any self respecting vegetarian would ever go near McDonalds is something of a mystery to me, but I'll let that pass.

As the infamous 'they' always say, b*ll*cks to any claims McD's doesn't have that same beef pre-cook oil(whatever it is) in Britain, or anywhere else. Their fries taste exactly the same everywhere. It's the one thing you can count on no matter where in the world you travel. :-)

They most certainly don't use beef fat (tallow) in the process of producing the fries in the uk, however they make no claim that they are vegetarian in the uk......when I worked there they were definitely COOKED in beef fat, only chicken, fish and apple pies are cooked in vegetable oil.

And no they don't give money to the IRA, that's a popular urban legend....
