I've heard of people using corn stoves or furnaces for heating, is it feasable and or economical?

Yes, depending on your climate. I would say you have to be north of probably I-70 for a reasonable payback period. Look in the Heat (Other) category under Older Threads for an extensive discussion on corn burning stoves.
