Freeze-Proof Faucet

Our thoughts have shifted away from blowing snow, and the last thing we might be thinking about is a frozen spigot, but maybe we should. Freeze-proof faucets largely eliminate the problem of a frozen or broken spigot. These faucets employ a long stem that shuts the water off about a foot back in the house where things stay above freezing. Basic plumbing skills are required for installation, and it sure would be a nice job on warm day.

We had these put in when our plumbing needed major general repair. Work like a charm. You have to get used to the dribble continuing after you turn them off because of the long run, but other than that, they're great. It's a wonderful convenience--one less thing you don't have to think about. Or, in my case, one less thing to forget.
