I hope the authors talked to children in the East End of London. Young Cockney children have a most imaginative grasp of all swear words. Colorful doesn't begin to describe it.

I liked the scruffy detective on Hill Street Blues. Phrases like "hair ball" and "dog breath" are now standard items in my vocabulary thanks to him, especially when I'm conversing with the kitties.
